HIBOTEP (SOMALIA)
Somali DJ, producer, Nyege OG and Femme Extraordinaire, Hibotep comes packed with hard blows to weave energies into sonic narratives that are both haunting and liberating.
A walking, breathing example of the diversity of Kampala’s arts and culture scene, Hibo Elmi is, amongst other things, a filmmaker, fashion designer and installation-artist. A self-described cultural nomad, her one rule is that rules are there for breaking. A philosophy that extends to her DJ sets where trap, hip-hop, house are combined with taraab, gnawaa and other more Arabic influences to collide into a vibrant contemporary sonic collage.
In 2019 she joined the We Are Europe roster and became the face of Native Instruments traktor. She has played at various international festivals, Sónar, CTM, Today’s Art, Roskilde, Nyege Nyege, Monheim Triennale…

NSASI ( UGANDA)
Coinage by Nsasi, on Hakuna Kulala, May 3 2024
https://hakunakulala.bandcamp.com/album/coinage
A founder member of Uganda’s rebellious ANTI-MASS collective (alongside Authentically Plastic and Turkana), Nsasi has built up a reputation with subversive DJ sets, smashing together slowed-down dance anthems and glossy R&B with propulsive fringe club experiments. His debut album is a dynamic, industrial rasp that draws on his expertise behind the decks, expertly meshing rhythms from across the musical spectrum into a coarse, dancefloor-ready frame. With the safety of queer people in Uganda compromised by a conservative, intolerant administration, ‘Coinage’ acts as a rallying cry for like-minded outsiders that mischievously perverts East African traditional sounds, considering their revolutionary potential within a new context.

PO ( FRANCE GHANA)
PÖ challenges your dancing shoes with afrocentric sets from Luanda to Kingston, Accra to Bahia,
weaving together forgotten connections on the dancefloor and unlocking bodies for ultimate
freedom.
She intertwines the colors of dancehall and heavy Brazilian funk with high speed caribbean
madness and footwork, occasionally giving moments of relief before diving right back into some
raging kuduro.
Breaking up rhythms, switching up paces, her sets are a trove of discoveries and unexpected
connections in high intensity energy.
PÖ has turned up the heat at major festivals like Nyege Nyege, We Love Green,
Roskilde, Peacock Society, Primavera Sounds, Borderline….

TURKANA (SOUTH SUDAN)
South Sudanese DJ and Producer Turkana sees the dancefloor as a battleground that feeds on the tension between oppression and liberation. She likes to attack the dancefloor without compromise but always with fierceness and grace, a sort of blend of Nkisi and Grace Jones.
She plays leftfield African electronics, hard dance, non-normative techno and underground from the global South. When she’s not making or playing music she loves to contemplate on the meaning and passing of time. Upcoming release on Hakuna Kulala.
In 2022, she played at Nyege Nyege Festival, CTM festival, Bad Bonn Kilbi, Primavera Sounds Barcelona, Oslo Pride, Kappa Futur Festival, DOUR Festival, Les Escales…
