International Giraffes XX Penguins Night ft. Catu Diosis (Nyege Nyege)
9 mars-22 h 00 min - 10 mars-5 h 00 min
Girafas & pinguinas ! We will celebrate together the International Women’s Day at ILLegaaL and it will be biiiig !
And this celebration will be very special to us.
First of all because of its meaning and importance. It’s crazy that International Women’s Day even has to exist. It should be granted that women and men are treated equally all over the world. Yet despite some progress, we are still very far from it.
Then because it will be the 5th birthday of our sistas Tropical DJipsies, a feminine DJ collective that was born at the International Giraffes XX Penguins Night of 8/3/2019 at Au Quai and promotes the place of female producers and DJ’s on the scene.
And finally because it will be our first time at ILLegaaL and we are very excited about this new home !

Catu Diosis (Nyege Nyege) (UG/DE)
Catu Diosis: The Afrocentric Dynamo of Ugandan Beats.
Catherine Atim, better known by her stage name Catu Diosis, is a multi-talented force in the music industry hailing from Uganda. Born with a natural inclination towards rhythm and a penchant for creativity, Catu has carved her niche as a music producer, DJ, dancer, and rapper, earning her the title of the « African Diva » with her free-spirited and energetic persona. Catu’s musical journey began at the age of 12 when she, alongside her brothers, delved into making Luo rap music, a distinctive style rooted in her Ugandan heritage. Despite showing early promise, she took a hiatus to focus on her education, setting the stage for a later comeback that would leave an indelible mark on the global music scene. In 2016, Catu Diosis re-emerged, taking up DJing and later delving into music production. Her unique sound seamlessly blends Afrocentric elements with a global musical palette, creating tracks that are not only flavorful but highly danceable. Drawing from her early experiences with Luo rap, Catu infuses her current productions with a distinctive style that sets her apart in the industry. Affiliated with Uganda’s renowned Nyege Nyege collective, Catu Diosis has become a sought-after performer on the international stage. Her vibrant and electrifying sets have graced iconic
venues & festivals worldwide, including the prestigious Boiler Room, the legendary Berghain, and the eclectic Paleo Festival. One of her standout performances took place at Circulart in Colombia in November 2023, where she mesmerised the audience with her infectious beats and magnetic stage presence. Catu’s journey is a testament to her unwavering passion for music, her commitment to preserving and evolving her cultural roots, and her ability to captivate audiences around the world. As Catu Diosis continues to break and push the boundaries of the industry, her star is undoubtedly on the rise, illuminating the path for future generations of female African artists on the global stage.
