Installé à Niamey et originaire de Tchinntabarade\, ville emblématique des kel tamasheq du Niger. La signification du groupe veut dire « Piliers » en langue tamasheq et fait référence aux piliers abritant les tentes traditionnelles berbères. Ce nom est le signe d’un attachement fort à une culture que TisDAss entend défendre et faire connaître par la force de la musique. Grandissant aux sons de Tinariwen\, Bob Marley ou encore Dire Strait qu’écoutait son père\, l’envie de se battre avec les mots et les guitares est arrivé après un traumatisme. Fille de Maâlem (Maitre Gnawa) et Maâlma elle-même\, Asmaa redéfinit les codes d’une pratique musicale traditionnellement réservée aux hommes.\n\nAvec Bnat Timbuktu\, elle a sillonné plusieurs pays autour du globe pour partager la culture du gnawa\, dans ses dimensions aussi bien mystiques\, spirituelles que festives. Elles ont réalisé deux albums sur le label Ajabu!
